How I Support My Clients
I often get asked what it’s like to work with me and how I support my clients in my sessions, courses and retreats. So, I wanted to share with you about my unique approach to helping people rediscover their sense of freedom and empowerment.
But first, a little story…
I stumbled upon my vocation in the healing arts about seven years ago while following my curiosity. I was working as a writer in LA and picked up some psychology books to help with my character studies - classics by Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. And, as it turned out, I could not put them down. One book lead to another. And soon thereafter I found myself in a Jungian psychoanalyst’s office, no longer searching for answers to my characters, but wanting to better understand myself. The deeper I dove into therapy, healing and the human experience, the more I found myself coming to life. I couldn’t learn fast enough. It felt like my entire being was vibrating with enthusiasm and inspiration. I followed one golden breadcrumb after another - finally landing in a two year program in Spiritual Psychology. And it was here that I found my so-called entelechy -a greek word meaning the realization of our soul’s potential.
In my Spiritual Psychology training, I finally got the opportunity to sit in the facilitator’s chair and what happened to me in this role I can only describe as magic.
Sitting across from my fellow students, I knew how to listen beneath their words. I could hear what their soul was really trying to say. I couldn’t explain how this was happening, it simply was. I’d always felt myself to be intuitive, but this was a whole other experience of the word. With my clients, the downloads channeled through me like lightning bolts. The work was not work at all. It felt effortless and pure, like being carried by a river’s current. And I knew that after many years of searching for my calling, I was home.
Given my journey to the work I’m doing now - it’s no surprise to me that the theme I explore with most of my clients is that of discovering their own entelechy - the realization of their soul’s potential, or what I playfully call the inner wild. And despite what you may have heard, this process is not an uphill battle. It might be challenging at times, but there is never a need for force of will. Rather it’s an unraveling, an allowing - a stripping away of all the barriers you have built to knowing the truth of who you are.
So how do I support my beloved clients?
First off, I’m not a coach. It may be the industry standard’s term for those of us working outside the bounds of traditional therapy, but I’ve never resonated with this word. I’m not teaching a sport here, nor will I be on the sidelines clutching a clipboard and urging you on with a whistle. What I know myself to be is a bridge, a channel, a guide, and a keeper of sacred wisdom. To me those terms preserve the mystery and the magic that is the healing process, which is non-linear and alchemical. It’s not something we hack, conquer or achieve. Rather, it’s something we surrender into like a work of art. And I believe entering into the process of self-actualization with this understanding is so important and really sets us up for success.
I work from a spiritual perspective. In my personal experience, traditional therapy was only able to open to the door to my freedom. It wasn’t until I reclaimed my relationship to my spirit, to my soul, that I could finally walk through that door. Therefore, the foundation of my work is in helping my clients to connect to the pure and freeing perspective of the soul. The soul is the still, small voice within that only knows love. It never condemns or judges. It only has words of compassion and forgiveness. Connecting to the soul is the antidote to the harsh words of the inner critic. It soothes our guilt and shame and reminds us of who we really are. From the soul’s perspective, there are no such thing as mistakes, only continued opportunities for growth and learning. Life is happening for us, not us. And this is the ultimate power of seeing life through the eyes of the soul: it sets us free from victim mode and puts us back into the driver’s seat of our own life where we belong. The spiritual perspective asks us to take full responsibility as the creator of our own reality. It challenges us to embrace the wisdom that nothing outside of us causes our disturbances, and there is truly nothing more freeing or empowering than this knowledge.
I help people reclaim their relationship to magic, synchronicity and manifestation. Connecting to the soul opens up our connection to the realm of the unseen and the unknown, or what we might call Divine Intelligence. The more we say yes to the soul, the more we start to recognize that there is a river of energy flowing beneath this material world that is working with us and through us at all times. This energy is what inspires us to dream, desire, self-honor and expand our consciousness. It wants to play and co-create with us. And the beauty of being in touch with Divine intelligence is that we start to recognize we’re not doing it all alone. The Universe indeed has our back and is trying to carry us forward - all we have to do is ask for and receive its support and synchronicties. Some people call this process “manifestation” - a word that has become very popular in self-development in recent years, and for good reason. Allowing things to come to us through energetic attraction, is so much more magical than struggling to make them happen. But the thing about manifestation is that it’s nuanced. It requires us to work with our shadow and our blind spots so we can become an energetic match for that which we desire. It also asks us to become comfortable with surrender and letting go of that which we think we need in order to make space for our heart’s true desires. I work with a lot of clients who are experiencing challenges and confusion around manifestation, and it is my absolute joy to support them in clearing the channels so they can start finding their flow with this process.
My sessions are interactive and multidimensional. As I mentioned before, talk therapy only took me so far as it keeps us relegated to the level of the mind. In my experience, the real shifts happen when we fully engage our body, nervous system and subconscious in the process of healing and releasing. So my work with clients in my sessions and retreats is interactive and multidimensional. If we come across stuck energy in your field, we’ll use guided visualization, voice dialogue and other experiential or what we are known as somatic techniques to help unravel and clear this energy. This may involve meeting with shadow and inner child aspects of self, ancestral healing and connecting to your spirit guides and allies.
I believe in gentle and easy. There are certain styles of therapy that promote a warrior mentality and liken the process of healing to going into battle to defeat our inner demons. There are also approaches that appeal to our inner perfectionist and workhorse - making us feel as though there is a right and a wrong way to heal and that it’s something we have to spend the rest of our lives working hard at. As you may have guessed, I’m not one who believes in either of these perspectives. My approach to healing is deeply yin aka feminine and, as such, people who are drawn to work with me are ready to bring forward this softer energy within themselves. I follow in the footsteps of my dear mentor Dr. Mary Hulnick who taught me that healing is the application of loving to the places inside that hurt and so I hold a deeply mothering energy field for my clients that provides them a safe space in which to unfurl and reveal their heart. I firmly believe that self-actualization, while challenging at junctures, also gets to be easy and even fun at times, and it is not uncommon for there to be a great deal of laughter and joy in my sessions alongside the tears.
Astrology & Human Design are my favorite tools. I’ve been using Astrology and Human Design in my sessions from the very beginning as I find them to be invaluable tools for self-acceptance. Your charts in Astrology and Human Design are blueprints of the planetary energy at the moment of your birth. As such, they can reveal the deeper calling of your soul and show you how your unique self wants to be expressed and channeled in this lifetime. When I share observations from people’s charts with them in sessions, the feedback is always that they feel so seen and as though they’ve been given permission to be their true, unapologetic self. Astrology and Human Design are magic, so I always keep my clients charts up during our 1:1 sessions, drawing from them frequently to add depth and clarity to whatever challenges we may be exploring together.
I connect humans with horses in service to profound transformation. If you follow me on Instagram or have checked out my website, then you know horses are the heart and soul of Embodying Wild. Horses have been part of my life since I was a little girl. Their majesty and peaceful nature has always touched my heart. So, when I began dreaming up my own healing practice, I knew horses were going to be at the core of it. My background is in a modality called Equine Guided Empowerment® - a profound form of equine therapy in which individuals are guided to create heart-centered connection with horses through learning how to more fully embody the authentic self. In sessions and retreats at the ranch, we spend time out in the pasture with the herd exploring the highly attuned energetic field of the horse and how they can help us to become more aware of our own energy and sense of personal space. We explore how horses lead with grace and power rather than force and how this can inspire our own ability to lead. And best of all, we experience how horses can open our hearts to the healing perspective of unconditional love. I’ve been bringing women and horses together in partnership for three years now here at the ranch, and each time I am left speechless by the transformations that unfold when horses and humans come together in mutual connection.
If you’re interested in working with me, I offer private virtual sessions, in-person equine guided sessions and twice a year I offer the Embodying Wild Course to an intimate group of women ready to dive deep and transform.
